How much do wedding photographers cost in Cambridgeshire?

Wedding photography is not a small expense and choosing the right one of your special day is one of the most important decisions that you’ll make. Your wedding photos are memories to treasure forever and you want them to be the best they can be and exactly what you dreamed of. Choosing a wedding photographer in Cambridgeshire is something that I am sure you are researching widely and the cost may be a factor in your decision. I’ve put a handy list of things to consider when picking your photographer.

1. Does the wedding photographer do a pre-wedding engagement shoot?
Ever thought of having a pre-wedding engagement shoot? This is something that’s becoming more and more popular. It’s a fantastic way to get to know your wedding photographer and also for them to get to know you. Not only will you have photos to treasure, but you can provide valuable feedback to your wedding photographer so they know what you like and don’t like. This better prepares all of you for the big day, and means you’re more likely to get exactly the right kind of photos. You want to feel relaxed and comfortable with your wedding photographer, so this pre-wedding shoot can “break the ice” and put you at ease. You’ll have enough nerves on your wedding day, so this is one less thing to worry about! Lots of couples tell me that they enjoy sharing their engagement photos before the big day with friends and family, and it’s nice to have some “different” photos of you together. I offer a pre-wedding engagement shoot on my top tier package, and I am finding more couples than ever are choosing this option.

2. Look for the style you like.
What kind of photos do you like? Natural, candid, vintage, quirky, modern….there are so many different styles and the beauty of photography is that it’s subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say, so you simply have to like the style of the photographer you work with. A good place to start is on social media – follow their wedding page on Facebook and follow them on Instagram to see what sort of photos they produce. You could search for “wedding photographers Cambridgeshire” to find a few you like the look of. Most wedding photographers do share their work on a regular basis (I certainly do) so you can get a feel for their style. I think this one is all about gut instinct, and you will know what you like when you see it.

3. Find someone within in your budget.
Of course cost does play a part in most people’s decision. I totally understand that if you’re working to a budget, then this is important, but equally it’s not worth trying to find the cheapest photographer you can find – someone offering their work for next to nothing may not produce the best wedding photos or offer you the service you deserve. I try to keep my prices fair and reasonable, whilst being able to earn my living at the same time. There are photographers priced at either end of the scale of course, and only you know what you’re willing to spend. Do consider that these photos will last you a lifetime and sometimes skimping on this expense could be a huge regret in the future.

 4. Choose someone you feel a connection with.
I feel this is one of the most important things to consider.  You’ve GOT to pick a wedding photographer that you feel comfortable with and get along with. You’re going to have to interact with your wedding photographer so much throughout the day, you’ve got to have a connection and find them easy to deal with. They should also be someone that will fit in well on the big day and be able to “boss your guests around” from time to time if needed!

5. Make sure they have insurance for the wedding venue if required.
All good wedding photographers in Cambridgeshire (and elsewhere!) should be fully insured. This is more of a boring, practical consideration but it’s extremely important. Many wedding venues will also insist on the right insurance being in place (which of course I do).
